I can't get Ulead to recognize .mkv codecs;I swear it did before. I really need this.

Actually, MKV is not a codec. It is Matroska Video, an open source Video Container, similar to and a open source alternative to avi, mov etc (while MKA is Matroska Audio). It allows selectable audio and subtitle streams.heinz-oz wrote:What's the mkv codec?
But you would not know which codec is being used from the file extension.

Thanks for correcting termonalogy; but the question remains, what will get ulead to see and open these files? Something worked before. It was in free-codecs, but isn't there now. Weird,baffling,and frusrating! Most of my files are .mkv!

Ulead products never support MKV, I do not know why you have the feeling Ulead had supported it before.
MKV is much like AVI/MOV as a media container format, however it's not as popular as AVI/MOV/MP4/WMV in the Windows/Mac world. For anyone who wnats to know MKV, check http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MKV
