Please someone help me. I have the ads Dvd express Dx2. I have two questions.
How do I aquire the best quality recording of capture with the capture wiz software? What setting should I use in capture wiz and in unlead video once I put import the capture wiz once I import it in the unlead program.
Question two
When I capture video and burn it as a dvd. I then try to play it on my computer through my power dvd. The dvd fills in only about half of the screen as a block. It does not fill the whole screen. In fact you can see the edges of the screen which sometimes have little blue streaks on the edges. The amazing thing is though is I play it through my tv. The dvd fillls the whole screen and there are no edges to the dvd. What is my problem? Please any help would be appreciated. I have pulled my hair out on this and tryed everything.
Help,please

I'm not sure what options you have. The preferred format for editing is AVI/DV. (That's what you get from a digital camcorder.) But, I don't think any of the DVD xpress devices can do that. The next best thing is MPEG-2, since your DVD will be MPEG-2. Choose the highest bitrate that will still allow the program to fit on a DVD. Here's a Bitrate Calculator.peterrenhome wrote: How do I aquire the best quality recording of capture with the capture wiz software? Higher bitrate = higher quality = more disc space = lower compression = less playing time.

That's normal. Regular analog TVs are adjusted for overscan. That means that you don't see the edges around the picture... Some of the picture is cut-off on all sides. That allows for distortion at the sides, and it allows for some mis-adjustment of the picture, as well as picture-size drift and picture-position drift as the TV "warms-up".peterrenhome wrote:In fact you can see the edges of the screen which sometimes have little blue streaks on the edges. TV and movie producers allow for overscan by keeping all important information inside the safe area to make sure the important stuff shows-up on everybody's TV.

yes, I have tried this. This is when I espically notice this on powerdvd or windvd that it does not fill the whole screen. I do not understand why it will fill the whole screen on the televison. I tried it on my laptop to check if it was a problem with my computer. Same results. Please tell me someone how I capture and burn a dvd to fit the whole screen on the monitior using ads DVD Express 2. My main computer is an amd 3200 with 1000 gig of ram with a nvidia 7600 gt. I know this is a good product. I have read many people using this capture device. Yes, you are right I had the name wrong.

Thank you for that advice. This explains why I can not see the edges on the television. How do I get this though to not happen on the computer with powerdvd or windvd? Is there is a certain setting to st in Ulead video studio 10. I noticed ther is a tv safe area setting in this program. I have not played with the setting though. Would playing with this setting help me in my problem?

The TV safe area isn't a setting it is a guideline, bit like placing a sheet of graph paper onto your screen so that you can align objects. the TV safe area gives you a guide about where the edges of your video will be lost when viewed on the TV.
