UGA5 chops up my pictures when I animate

Post by Fai-Ness »

I just ran across this problem lately, my animator program is chopping up my animations when I check them in the preview, everything is the right size like all the frames are 50 x 50 but some frames afterward end up 50 x 49! I need help to fix this problem, please and thank you.

We need a lot more detailed information on what exactly you're doing there... Are you resizing the image at any point? Is it the frames that are getting resized or the objects? A sample would be good...

If you can email me the UGA file (not the gif file), and tell me exactly what optimization settings you're using, we can possibly figure this out.

I'm sure I haven't changed the program at all I just pretty much used it at a basic level... I'm not sure what's going on.
I'll try sending it via e-mail, but I'll fill in the best I can... I'm not resizing the image at any point, I'm sure the frames are resizing themselves. I check on the image during the preview and it's like the transparency rides up and kills the bottom line of pixels.

I got the UGA file via email, had a poke around, and found the issues. It was as I suspected...

GA 5 occasionally gets stupid when optimizing. I've no idea why... seems to do it on small animations only.

To correct this, do the following in the Optimization Tab.

Click the "show/hide Optimize Panel" button Image. It's the second from the right.

Go to the Advanced tab, and uncheck "remove redundant pixels."

That will do it!

(The other way to fix this is to resize the canvas to 52x52, centered...)

THANKS VERY MUCH!!!!!!!!!!! :D Your helpful pointers helped me in a huge way! My 50 x 50 animations are avatars on a certain site and they require them to be 50 x 50. a very stirct policy because anything bigger might slow down servers.

You're most welcome...

I just noted that Firefox and Opera display such "clipped" gifs fine - it is Internet Explorer that clips it when it plays.

Another reason to test your animation in several browsers if possible...
