recomend a system

hi,
usually i edit images on desktop pc.
i am considering to use either laptop or notebook or pctablet.
may someone recommend me a decent system(processor, ram, etc.) for my new setup.

Which version of PI?

As long as you are working with still images or gif files (animations), any decent processor will do. The more RAM you have, the better. especially PI 11 is RAM hungry.

Ditto. Most of my sysyems, which are used with PI-11, MediaStudio 8, DVD Workshop 2 and many Adobe programs, have 1-4 gigs of RAM and that alone makes a huge difference in how such programs run. Personally I'd choose to double my RAM over a 30-50% CPU speed increase.

Go with an Intel Core Duo or Core Cuo 2 Processor if you can. Try to get an Nvidia graphics card with DDR2 or 3 512 mem. Serial ATA 3 Gig hard drives.

The newer Core Duo 2 Extreme has unlocked processors and has less problems with power hungry graphic editors, but is expensive.

Stay away from the Dell Laptops for the time being, having fire problems. The cause is the Sony Battery which also comes in HP and a few other Laptops.

I like Toshiba and Sony but they are not cheap.
