I am trying to decide between Pinnacle or Ulead for my purchase. I have read some really bad reviews about Pinnacle and the way they treat their customers.
My system is not crashing since I installed Ulead. I did however accidently delete a menu file. I decided to uninstall and reinstall to get the file back..
I even went into the registry and anywhere else I could think of.
Gues what.!!
I reinstalled the program only to find the file still missing, and the timer still counting down the days. Now I dont have a problem with the timer since I was planning on purchasing the program anyway.
The problem I DO have is that since I installed Ulead, some other applications have been acting odd.
Not sure if it is a conflict with Ulead or not.
I aked for a list of ALL the changes and files Ulead did or added to my computer to no avail.
If it is leaving files on my computer, then I would consider that a form of spyware.!!!!
I hope I will get an answer to my dilema. I would hate to put Ulead in the same class as Pinnacle with their lack of customer care.
ANOTHER STUDIO 10 PROBLEM

Personal opinion. Video Studio 10 is superior and more stable than the Pinnacle product. As to your applications 'acting odd'; conflicts are possible with burning software such as Roxio and Nero. These can be easily resolved. I haven't looked closely at exactly how the install of VS10 impacted my system, but I have no issues with any programs/applications. Video Studio is certainly not over intrusive. If it had been released with a copy protection program such as 'Starforce', it would be a different scenario.

I am happy with the last two versions of VS, both 9 and 10 have given little or no problems.
I have not used Pinnacle and cannot comment.
Just happy with what i have.

If you are basing your decision on the level of customer service, you may have to look elsewhereSparky102 wrote:I am trying to decide between Pinnacle or Ulead for my purchase. I have read some really bad reviews about Pinnacle and the way they treat their customers.

Decision: Ulead VideoStudio or Pinnacle Studio?
Hello Sparky102,
I was in exact the same position as your are now:
... doing a decision to select the right buy: Ulead or Pinnacle.
As a total newbie to all subjects involved in producing a video (camcorder settings, capturing, project settings, burning, etc.) I fiddled around some time with both programs.
After 30 days of daily about 2 hours web browsing, manual/forum reading, testing, etc. I have produced in the meantime and parallel a wonderful movie - 50 minutes long.
To achieve this goal this Ulead forum was a great help for me.
And in comparing of both products, Ulead VideoStudio and Pinnacle Studio, I can state:
1.) Though Pinnacle's user interface seems to be more intuitive (which gets less meaning if you become more familiar with a program) Ulead is much more robust. As a newbie I have done a lot of nonsense procedures which ended with Ulead VideoStudio in a bad result whereas Pinnacle Studio quits in many cases with a crash.
2.) Pinnacle eats much more resources of your computer whereas the program of Ulead seems to me much more tightly designed by providing - more or less - the same features.
3.) As written above this user forum is wonderful and if you take the time to describe clearly your problem or question (a hint to other forum users: "capture
" your problem or question in clear, short words in the subject line) you probably will get some good answers in a short time.
4.) The audio processing of Ulead and its human interface is poor, but I hope Ulead will provide us with a better next version. Otherwise there is the possibility to outsource the audio processing to the open-source program Audacity.
5.) The price of Ulead VideoStudio is lower than the price of Pinnacle Studio (at least here in Germany).
6.) Creating videos it is nice to have and easy to work with proDaD Adorage Special Effects. Whereas you can install for free the proDaD plug-in by buying Adorage Special Effects Volume 8 or 9, you have to buy separately the plug-in for Pinnacle Studio in addition.
This list above has lead me to the decision that Ulead VideoStudio is best suited for my purposes.
Much regards

PS:
Just one hint: Titling the subject with "ANOTHER STUDIO 10 PROBLEM" is not a good fishhook to draw the attention to your specific problem. But I know, if a newbie wants to find an article about the "Decision: Ulead VideoStudio or Pinnacle Studio" he will not find my article too

There is only one answer - download the trial versions of the software you are interested in and see for yourself which you feel the most comfortable with.
This is a Ulead Forum and so the response you will get here is Ulead is the Best.
Go to the Pinnacle forum and they will try and convince you that Pinnacle is the best,
Adobe Users will swear by Adobe Premier
Sony Vegas users will give you blinding reports about how good Sony Vegas is.
The one thing I can assure you is that should you choose to become a part of the Ulead family we members of this User Board will greet you with a very warm welcome and we have several experienced users who will endeavour to work with you should you experience any problems.
