DMF5 Crashes When Trying to View Imported Video

Post by overbydt »

I am trying to view mpeg2 video files that I have imported into a project and every time I click the play button, the program locks up and crashes.
This didn't happen until I upgraded my PC with a new motherboard and video card. The files are home videos that I captured using an ADS DVD Xpress, and I was always able to view them until I upgraded the PC. Any ideas?

Yes, I did all that. And I made sure I used a completely reformatted HD for a fresh XP install.

It's weird - I can view the video if I go to multi-trim, and it has no problem, it's just when I try from the first page.

Are you sure they are the exact same files? You haven't edited them since the upgrade?

DISCLAIMER: I'm very suspicious of MPEGs.... I've had some bad experiences.... I'm biased... :P

Here's what happened to me a couple of times (not every time):
Captured to MPEG (the only choice with my Hauppauge card). :(
Made a DVD - No problems.

Edited out the "offensive" scenes, re-splicing with crossfades.
Made a censored DVD - Occasional crashing during DVD authoring and/or lip sync problems on the finished DVD.

Conclusion:
The MPEG was corrupted during editing.

My Solution:
Get a special-purpose MPEG editor.
