Resize zoom for overlay track

Post by ozziejim »

I want to be able to have a image photo start out as full screeen size, then resize itself to perhaps 1/4 the screen size and place it in the corner (as in a transition or filter). I see where the overlay track features allow me to set any size and place it anywhere I want - but I don't see how I can have it transition from full screen to the small size I want. Is it possible?
I'm running Video studio V10+.

Thanks for your help..

No, you need Media Studio for that.

But if you have a picture editor, you could include your picture in a larger canvas (2x2 of the original size) position your picture in a corner with the rest black, then insert this large picture into VideoStudio, Pan and zoom it from 200% upper-left (or whatever) to 100% center and voilà.
If you need to overlay it just use chroma key to get rid of the black/white/blue empty space.

Now if you want to do that for 546 pictures....

ozziejim,

If you don't have Media Studio or a good photo editor that can do the pan & zoom that Daniel mentioned, here's an idea that might work, but it might look a little jerky. May be worth experimenting with. You could insert a consecutive series of this image clip in the overlay track, say 6 or 7 of them, giving each one a 1 second duration, and for each one adjust the overlay size manually from full screen to 1/4 screen. You could use the "Show Grids" to position the next overlay image location just ahead of where the previous overlay image was located. It won't be smooth, but the more clips you have to get from full screen to 1/4 screen, the better it might look. Could be a little time consuming, but just trying to think outside the box for a workaround when it comes to VS10's limitations. If this doesn't work, it might inspire you to think about another creative way of doing it.
Cheers,
