Not very tech savy but need assistance

Hi

I have a high defnition video camera and I am trying to download video into a DVD. I found the software Ulead Movie factory 5.0 and downloaded the free trial version to try it. I noticed that two 63 cassettes were giving me more than 15GB of size. My Dell computer is new and has 300GB of size in Hard Drive. So I don't think that would be the problem. However, I guess the 15GB would be very difficult to fit into the regular 4.7GB DVD. Sony suggested to downgrade the High definition into Digital video. Even though it wasn't very good since I bought a HD camera, I tried it.

The two cassettes were having a 2.6 GB in size. I then tried to burn the DVD. I selected Create a DVD and also checked create the folders. I didn't select normalize audio. It seemed as if it was going to work because I saw the timing symbol move. I estimated it will be done by 45 mins after calculating the speed. However, the timing symbol began to go faster than usual and the computer showed a message with "Unspecified error" and it stopped. I tried again and the same thing happened after 25 mins more or less. I haven't been able to burn the DVD.

Am I doing something wrong? Is it a trial version situation that I can't burn the DVD? I am trying to see if everything works.

The other question is what is a good way to burn HD DVD when you are talking of HD videos of more than 8 hours in a HD video camera. If almost 2 HD hours are bringing 15GB, 8hrs would bring 60GB. That means that I would need more than 15 DVD?

Thanks,

Cesar

At the moment Movie Factory 5 doesn't have th capability to write Blue Ray or High Definition disks, that is what you need for your High Definition Video.

MF5 allows you to create High Definition files but no way to write them.

Currently you can only create Standard Definition DVDs.

Blue Ray disk writers have recently become available, but for around $1,000 US I think I will wait.

You might wnat to check out Video Studio 10+ and follow the tutorial to get HD video on a standard DVD.

Thanks Tyamada for your clarifications about HD.

Can you help with the Digital Video editing question? Why do you think the computer shows the "unspecified error" when burning the DVD with the DV of 2.6 GB? The trial version allows to burn DVD's?

Thanks,

I can't comment on the error you get when burning DVDs. I usually select burn DVD folders or ISO image when creating DVDs, then I burn the final with Nero or other burning software. Ulead's burning engine isn't very good.

Thanks Tyamada

How does this web board work? I thought the answers we received were from Ulead technicians. But now I doubt it because you say you use Nero to burn DVD.

Since I edited the video into Ulead, I wouldn't like to search for another software to burn in order to start the whole process again.

Is there any chance that I receive an answer with respect to my Ulead doubt?

Thanks,

Cesar

The board is named "Ulead USER TO USER....".

What happens is we users, beginners to very, very advanced, meet here to help each other. Once in a while a Ulead employee or rep will respond, but most of the time it's users helping users.

Key to getting help here is filling out your system profile (hint-hint :) ) and being respectful of others. Some people come in flaming, which is no way to get people to respond.

Many of those here are also Ulead betatesters for various products, but that doesn't mean betas work for Ulead. It just means they spend long hours thrashing the software before it hits the streets.

Do they come out perfect? No product ever does, which is why the betas also work on the service packs.
