Problem with viewing DVD on TV

Post by retina »

Hi, I finished recording a DVD-R (no videos, just slideshows made by pictures). It plays wonderfully on my computer. However, when I play it on my home DVD player and view it on TV, it looks like the pictures are cropped. Some of the margins are cropped. Most importantly, those ignored parts are definitely WITHIN the "safe area" defined by the dotted line of PictureShow4.
I'm wondering what causes this? And how to setup the DVD player or TV to view the whole picture.

I think this thread will answer your questions:

I would just add that the "safe area" is only a guide in that it does not change the size of your images. The preset value of the safe area (10% PAL or 12% NTSC) are typical but the viewing area WILL vary slightly between one TV screen and the next. Therefore you might want to increase the value a bit to more accurately reflect the actual viewing area of your particular screen. To do this go to File > Preferences > Output Settings (tab). The safe area value adjustment is near the bottom.
