Separate Audio Voice from Instrumental music

Post by blplhp »

In VS10+, can the singing voice be separated, deleted or muted from the instrumental music in an audio clip? If not directly by the program, is there a workaround cheat method of accomplishing this task? There are several songs that I would like to use in the audio track, but I don't want to hear the lyrics.

Thanks,

I don't believe VS has a feature like this. Nero Wave Editor can do it and Audacity can do it also. It is generally referred to as a "karaoke" feature but be warned. The way these consumer level programs do it is by comparing the left and right channels of the audio. Anything that is found in both channels is assumed to be the vocals and on the basis of that these repeated sounds are removed. Unfortunately anything else at that frequency and in both channels is removed as well so the results can vary form barely acceptable to atrocious! Audacity is a free program so you can google it and the Nero program comes in Nero Suites, both fully purchased or OEMs.

Hi Bryan, I’m guessing you’re trying to do a karaoke type thing or make the video look like someone said something they didn‘t or are just replacing the original voice with a better audio track. Anyway, the answer is no. VS10+ can't do it and the other products hardware/etc that do may only notch out the center vocals but in any event none of them completely remove the vocals from the music.
