Hi everyone,
I have a Sony HDR-HC3 camcorder (which takes fantastic video BTW). I've noticed however that when I download in HD format, the MPEG file created is really blurry, especially when viewing anything that moves. It views OK in VideoStudio however it looks crap in other media players.
Even when I cut the MPEG file to DVD the poor image carries through.
Is it a hardware issue I may have? I'm running on a Dell P4 2.8 Ghz processor with 1Gb RAM and a 250Gb external HDD connected by USB. Have tried internal HDD (also has plenty of space) however this made no difference.
My camcorder can downgrade the video to SD where VideoStudio can capture to AVI file however I'd like to work with HD if possible.
BTW, I'm from Oz so I'm running on PAL. Cheers for any help.

Peewee,
I would guess that you have not set up the video properties for HD. See HD Tutorial at http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic.php?t=13872

Thanks John,
I had done SOME of the stuff in the tutorial but not all. What hampered this a little was that I upgraded from Version 8SE to V10+ and the upgrade was a little lumpy.
Since performing a complete uninstall of V10+, along with a Registry and File cleanup before reinstalling V10+, everything is going great.
I now know why I bothered to buy a HD camcorder. The image quality is just awesome.
Thanks again.

Peewee,
I am glad that you are getting the high definition picture quality that these HD cameras can deliver.
It is worth communicating to forum members that your original (defective) installation somehow "wired" the Video Studio property settings to AVI formats in standard definition, which were completely inappropriate your HDV mpeg2 encoded video from the camcorder. It is somewhat disturbing that the only symptom of this problem was "blurry video".
I think that Ulead should build in some "reasonable" cross checks for property mismatches in its products. This would certinly assist new users.
