VS10+ - Mysteriously Disappearing Video Filters

Post by KugarWeb »

Hi everyone,
Well I've been using VS10+ quite a bit since I got it and the quality of capturing and editing is much easier and better than the previous version I had (VS8). Well, after a few days of using it, I have noticed that when highlighting a clip and then choosing "Attributes", the Video Filters do not appear where Video, Audio etc clips normally appear. Also, I have tried finding them within the drop down menu but to no avail.
I have used the filters before in a previous project and they worked fine and appeared instantly when choosing Attributes, but now they won't appear at all, even when unchecking and checking Replace Existing Filter to give confirmation it IS filters I want and nothing else.

I am able to access the Color filters just fine by selecting them in the drop down menu, but even deselecting and then reselecting the video clip itself and trying other clips does not make them appear. I have also tried loading the previous project and clicking on the filtered video clip which I had previously done, but this also did not appear with the group of Video Filters. Restarting VS10+ and the computer itself also did not seem to have any effect.

Any suggestions or will I have to reinstall it? :(

The installer has a "Repair" option you might want to try first. Most of the time it takes care of such annoyances.

Cheers for that tip Terry, I was actually thinking about doing that after posting the message but thought I'd better hear if there were alternatives. I will try that and see if that fixes the problem. :)

Try renaming
C:\Documents and Settings\Stephen\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio\10.0
to C:\Documents and Settings\Stephen\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio\10.0x

(Replace Stephen with your user name)

Open VideoStudio and it will re-create that folder.
Does this fix it?
I have also tried this idea from sjj1805, although this did not seem to fix it. I have, however, managed to fix this problem using the "Repair" feature during installation.
One question, how often is this expected to happen, every 2-3 days? :?
Thanks very much for your help guys :)

It only seems to happen to a small group of users, and for reasons we don't see to have identified... I don't seem to recall, though, anyone reporting repeats of the same behaviour once it was corrected the first time...
