rendering a long AVI file

i am new to this board....i created a 2 min clip from a 1 hour AVI file in studio 10....this file was created outside Ulead....it runs fine when I downloaded the most up to date DIVX release....however when i tried to create a wmv file using share even at medium quality it takes a very long time....maybe an hour for 2 min....my friend tested the same file on his computer using the same condions and had no problems rendering at normal speed....my ulead captured video renders fine....help please?

Please post your full system specs in your profile. Without them we have no point of reference. Also essential are the exact stream properties of both the source file and your WMV export settings.

You can get the stream properties of the source by loading it into VS, selecting it then selecting 'Properties' from the context menu.

What version of DivX is your friend running? Many people have been complaining about DivX 6.x encoding very slowly.

he is using same version as mine ie 6.3....do you have an alternative codec system to use

Not that it helps you, but if you do a Search for divx you will find all kinds of problems with this format. :roll:
