How do I make the Batman spin?

Post by meshuken »

Remember on the old batman show, they could make on object spin around, increasing in size until it got to full size and halted right in front of the viewer? Similar to when an old movie has a "hot off the press" newspaper front page that begins as a spinning speck on a black background and quickly spins up to full size and then stops so the viewer can read the headline?

Any clue how I can do this with VS 10 plus?

Well this may not be the best way to do it or exactly what you're looking for but if you put the clip in the second video track you could use the Attribute spin buttons to make it spin and you could use the video filter "Video Pan" for "increasing in size" and I'm sure there are more ways too.

PS, you need to make your flag smaller.

The best way to do this is with Cool3D.

Your avatar needs to be made smaller as per the

Thank you Steve, Ulead Cool 3D (3.0) came with my boxed version of VS10+ but I haven't played with it yet and now I know I need to.

Cool3D tip:

work in a lower quality setting then export at a higher quality. C3D is resource intensive and this helps it run smoother on 'normal' systems.

Thanks for the heads up on Cool 3D, found it on my bonus disk...

Is there a way though to make a jpg or bmp spin? On cool 3D I can only figure out how to do text or line graphics you make within the program. There doesn't seem to be a photo insert, you know, like if i wanted to make a photo of someones head spin around.

thanks

Found this in the other user group

I guess that means importing images directly, no, but indirectly yes.

I'm also realizing that Cool 3D is a more techie type program where VideoStudio is more intuitive for the average consumer.

meshuken -- yes, Cool 3D and its bigger brother Cool 3D Production Studio, are not particularly intuitive, though for 'simple' things like titles, they are relatively painless if you pick through the various pre-sets. They produce really great, professional looking 3D titles and I use Production Studio with just about every one of my VS projects. When you get right into it, you will learn how to apply photos to objects and then apply animation to those. But the learning curve is relatively steep.

There is a much easier 3D program called Xara 3D which I bought a few months ago. Costs about $50. It is not as sophisticated as Cool 3d, but you can still do some pretty amazing things with it, and again produce some amazing titles, which is what I mainly use it for. Like Cool 3D, you can also apply photos as textures and then make the whole thing spin or make other movements.

Best of all, Xara 3D is miles faster than Cool 3D (which in itself is miles faster than Production Studio) in rendering the final products. Xara 3D, for instance, will take only a few seconds to render a 10 or 12 second .AVI title, while Cool 3D will take 20 minutes or more, and Production Studio sometimes more than an hour!

Wow, that is good to know because I think that is a really big difference in time - thanks for the tip Ken. :D

But can Xara import *.3ds object files? I find this an indispensible resource given how many *.3ds files you can find free on the internet.

Have a look at the Cool 3D tutorials. They were a big help to me.
