uninstalling Photo Express

Post by hagoli »

I began with a fault in photo Express: 'failed to create Painting Manager'- also alternatively 'error in getting the Twain Data Source' or 'An installable Device Driver failed Dll initialisation'. The advice I have been given by Trust, manufacturer of the scanner that came with Photo Express embedded, is to uninstall and reinstall. I cannot uninstall: either I get the message 'An installable Device Driver failed Dll initialisation, or 'Cannot Delete CalCheck.exe: Access is denied' I tried removing Calcheck.exe to the desktop to see if I could delete the remainder of the file but the message was that 'cannot delete' the next item in the file, and the same applies to yet the next item again. Is there any way I can remove this program from my PC and get back to work?

Try restarting your computer in safe mode
Then try the re-installation procedure.

Steve J, you're a genius! The Windows instructions for getting into Safe Mode need some tweaking, e.g. holding down F8 while restarting, but in only five minutes I got this monkey off my back. :D Hagoli
