Anyone else getting this message?

Post by CoatHanger »

I was using VideoStudio 10Plus, the trial version, on my 2nd day when upon startup of my computer, I encounter this message:

"The security information is invalid or has been modified. This program will be terminated"

Afterwards, every time I try to open up VideoStudio by double clicking on the icon or right clicking and selecting open, it fails to initiate. I've reinstalled the program several times, and fiddled with Data Execution like mentioned on many topics without success.

I'm at a low point. Anyone have anything to offer?

At this point your SOL. Im getting the same thing with the trial version. After doing some research it seems the trial version "locks" you out because you did an update to your system. So it thinks your trying to hack it. The actual file thats giving you this error is in your startup called uvpl.exe. That is used to speed things up I believe. And since ulead doesnt want to fix it, I dont know if I want to buy it now. They recommend you download the file onto a seperate system.

Its definetly frustrating to me as I need to know if it will do what I want it to do, but now I cant even test it. So forget paying for it.

If you're running it from an individual User account it could be that you need to install it from an Administrator account.

Well the OP said he ran it for 2 days, so he had the proper rights. Same here, so I dont think thats an issue. Still noone has said anything about a resolution.

You know, it's truly frustrating that Ulead doesn't offer any support for it's trial version. If you look at the FAQ's on the site for the trial version, it doesn't really offer you anything. It's more "Reinstall. If it doesn't work, tough luck". Many of these people who get screwed over by the trial version are potential customers.

This truly is mediocre. Yeah, I installed a Windows update and restarted my computer. That's when the message started.

So it was a Windows update that changed your settings enough to mess things up? Who's fault is that? IMO one more reason to set a restore point before letting Windows update itself :P

same problem

We are getting the same message as you. prob is that we only found out about the restore point after trying to fix it. deleting and reinstalling doesn't work, niether does redownloading the programme.
after being avid supporters of videostudio since v6 it would be disappointing not to be able to upgrade cos of this prob.
having to restore after every windows upgrade is not a satisfactory solution since we have automatic upgrade on our computer.
we'd also appreciate a solution to this 'bug' because we like what we have tried so far.

It's not a problem of uvPL.exe.

The security checking system in the trial version has damaged (by hacking or file corruption) and there is no way to restore it unless you remove program.

Maybe you can try the manual remove steps listed in the following link to try:

http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic. ... 5773#55773

However, to reinstall in this way will not reset the trial period.

Hope this helps.

I was merely pointing out that the error message you get is from launching uvPL.exe in your startup. I can easily duplicate the error by going into ulead and double clicking that exe file.

Yes, but it's the cause of the damage in the security checking subsystem in the package, not uvPL.exe / VStudio.exe itself.

Try the manual reinstall steps above and see what will happen.

Have you guys do any virus checking in your system? Maybe there is a virus situation that infected UVS trial so the security checking subsystem is damaged?

Just my 2 cents.

Yes, checked for viruses/spyware/malware. Nothing. Im sure this will be resolved if I did a reinstall of the OS, until the next MS update that is.
