I have a problem that makes my VideoStudio 9 SE nearly unusable!!!
Nature of the problem:
All work fine, but when at the end of a project I start to create a DVD, VideoStudio simply crashes, without error messages, simply it goes way from the screen. My PC continue to work fine, it does not crash.
This happen nearly 70% of the times I create a DVD and it makes no difference if I burn to a DVD-media, or if I create an iso-image or a DVD directory.
The strange thing is that it happens randomly, not always, I would say 60-70% of the times and always the DVD-creation arrives around 95% of the progress bar, before starting to burn the media (if I choose the burning option).
I want to add some more information after reading other "crash-thread" in this forum:
Normally I create many VS-projects (around 20-30 minutes) and then I create one DVD putting together more vsp files (then I create the menu for each vsp file and finally I create the DVD).
If I can right recall, some "stand alone" project I have burned did not crashed, but nearly always I put together 3-4 vsp files, then I get the crash (but not always, let say 70% of the time I create a DVD)
So, the problem could fall under the "(3) Never try to burn a DVD using SHARE/Add Project button", but then what to do?
Properties of your source files:
the files are mpeg created with VideoStudio and acquired via Firewire from a DV tape. sizes between 0,5 and 2 GB.
What devices are involved and their mode of connection?
No device during the project editing.
All mpegs were acquired previously via firewire from a canon camcorder.
Project Settings:
Nothing special, just the default settings
Output format:
DVD, iso image or DVD directory
PAL or NTSC: PAL
Error Codes:
no error code, just a program crash
System information:
(see my profile)
I work normally under Windows Server 2003 SP1.
I tried as test to change operative system and installed on the same computer Win2000 SP6 instead of Win2003, but I got exactly the same problem.
I made a mem test, and all is OK in my memory banks and the HDs are new.

You summed the reason for your problem up in this sentence: "I create one DVD putting together more vsp files". Even though in theory you can use VSP files in the burning module, in practice people seem to have a lot of problems doing it that way.
When in doubt, read the top sticky post containing Recommended Procedures. Essentially, though, it advises you to
1) Capture in DV/AVI format where possible;
2) Do all of your editing as far as possible in the same format;
3) And this is the important one for you. Once you are finished editing, go to Share > Create Video File > DVD to produce a DVD-compatible mpeg-2.
4) Once you have produced this mpeg-2 file, and ONLY then, go to Share > Create Disc > DVD, and in the burning module, insert the mpeg-2 file(s) (NOT the vsp files), create your menus and burn. Make sure the burning properties are exactly the same as those in your mpeg-2. Otherwise, the program will try to render the file again, as well as all the multiplexing of video and audio, creation of menus etc, all on the fly, which is a big ask for any computer. This is very likely to cause some loss in quality.
5) When burning, use only a lower burn speed (I use 4x), regardless of the rated speeds of both your burner and the discs you are using.
