Hello,
I been thinking of purchasing VideoStudio, but dont know if it will do what Im looking for. I have a bunch of DVD's of football games, amatuer football, and I want to be able to grab 10-20 seconds of video from the DVD to make highlights. Can this be done with VideoStudios?
Thanks

Re: How to edit video
Were these DVDs made by yourself? If they were commercial DVDs, they would most likely be encrypted and you would not be able to import them directly using VideoStudio. You need a 3rd party program to do the import (assuming you have taken care of the copyright issue).Sillysoft wrote:I have a bunch of DVD's of football games, amatuer football, and I want to be able to grab 10-20 seconds of video from the DVD to make highlights. I didnt make them myself, but they definetly are not commercial. The league makes the video and then converts it to DVD, dont know what program though.nosnoop wrote:Were these DVDs made by yourself? Good suggestion. I will give it a shot and let you know how it goes!Ken Berry wrote:You also need to be aware that more than a few people seem to be having problem inserting video ripped from DVDs, particularly with VS10. Other people, like me, seem to have no trouble. But the best thing is to download the trial version to see if it works on your computer set-up.

Just as with burning some drive/media combo's will cause a 'capture' to fail. Sometimes this can be fixed with a firmware update, sometimes not.
TIPs:
Try copying the DVD's content to a folder on the HDD and see if they import from there (with no disc in the drive VS will prompt for a folder).
On the other hand if copying to the HDD also fails then either the disc is bad or, once again, that brand/type media may not work well with your specific DVD drive.
Been there, done this.

Well I downloaded the trial, installed it and imported from DVD. Right at the end it gave some read error. But it still got the majority video. So I import the mpeg file into the app that it created and everything looks good. I then proceed to move the movie slider over to the right to put it further in the movie, well when I did that my computer immediatly rebooted! I tried it again and same issue!
Now Im at the point to where the application wont even start up. I tried repairing it, uninstalling it, rebooting then reinstalling it. Same issue. Man this thing just blew up. I wonder if its my video card, because the rest of my system should be able to handle it. I have some old 32MB video card which has been given me some problems, such as hardware crash when Im working in photoshop. The rest of the specs are below:
P4 2.8ghz HT
2GB Of Memory
80GB SATA HDD
BTC DVD-Combo drive (I bought this today)
Anyway anyone know of any fixes for this? Could it of been my video card?
