DVD Duplication of VS 9.0 programs

Post by lynnrmessman »

I created a DVD (using Video Studio 9) that I sent out to a vendor for duplication. (I am making 80 copies of a slide show/movie presentation that I developed for a recent Grade 8 Graduation).

When the vendor loaded the program into the DVD tower setup that they use, the DVD does not show that anything is on it. However, when the vendor plays it on their computer, it plays fine.

I am using a Phillips DVD+RW SDVD6004 disk drive to burn my initial DVD and I have no problems with this. I did burn a copy at 4x speed that I will take to the vendor. (I previously burned at 16X speed).

Has anyone else experienced this with VideoStudio 9?

Not with versions 8, 9 or 10. As with any DVD, the structure should show up on the disc in the normal way with a collection of IFO, BUP and VOB files.

It could have been an effect of burning at such a high speed (we recommend keeping the speed down to the lower end of the rated speed for the particular kind of disc you are using). But I rather doubt it, as the valid DVD structure was obviously there if the disc actually played on their equipment.

As a matter of interest, what are you paying per disc for the duplication?

FOr 80 Disks, I am paying a cost of $1.99 per unit. That cost includes color printing/photo label and thick DVD jewel case.

I would be interested in finding out who you are working with, and after you are done your opinion of their work. I am always looking for a source to duplicate DVDs and this sounds like a much better option than me doing all the work.
