Being a newbe has its challangers

Post by enterprisenxo1 »

thankyou fir your help with my last problem, I now can get mediostudio up and running but now I have some more questions, WhenI attempt to open files from my Hdd (mpeg, Avi, VOB, etc) i get the following error messages,

1) File reading error 171:1:42
2) Avi can not be read,
3) no combination intermediate filter could be found to make the conection (17106:3:4)
4) file format mismatch

can you please advise me as to how I can get around these errors.

I have downloaded SP3 for MSP 7, but did not do much,

I have been trying to load the files by going into source, Source window menu, import, Video file. is this right?

the files that I am trying to edit are ones that I have recorded from the TV on my DVD recorder in Mpeg/vob format

hope this helps

We are still missing information that would allow us to give you a clear answer. However, that said, here is my take on your problem.

I am thinking you need to capture your video/audio in a format that MSP7 can work with. If you are (for instance) editing in dv type one format, and the files you capture are captured in dv type one format, then the world is in balance and all will work.

If you are capturing as vob.. might be more to your needs to capture as mpeg or avi. Avi will give you less loss than mpeg when editing and rerendering the files.

I would try capturing to mpeg or avi. Then when you open videoeditor choose the editing format that most closely matches your source files.

***and for all our regulars and myself let me add*** I would recommend you get the book by Charlie Hill. Great great way to get started with Media Studio. Search the web board threads for his name.. you will prolly find well over 100 messages that tell you where to get the book.

I hope this helps

One more thing. When importing video...try this. Go to the top of the page and click on insert then video file. Then when you have chosen the file you want to insert... move the cursor until you see the file highlighting a section of the timeline. You can put it anywhere.. but a good place to start is all the way to the left.. (timecode 0:0) on video A. The audio that is attached will automatically insert itself in the corresponding audio track.

Hope this helps.
