Hi guys,
I am trying to squeeze a DVD burn from MF onto my
dvd and started at 4.3 Gigs final output, then it said it couldn't fit onto
my DVD (single layer 4.7), so I took it down to 4.1,
then 3.9, now 3.8 and still says there isn't enough space,
but on the dvd itself, it says it has (standard amount) 4.37 gigs
available for burn.
I am using Memorex DVD-R.
This has never happened to me before!?
What is going on here?
Cheers,
Scott

Two problems first;
1. please fill in the system specs in your profile, and be specific and complete. This can help with many issues. Thanks.
2. please specify what version you're using and if it's patches are up to date. Thanks II.
Now down to business: how complex is your menu and are you using any custom graphics in it? Highly customized menus can throw off the size estimation.
It's also possible that you're using an earlier version of DVDMF (you didn't specify
) that had problems with estimation calculations. Again, we need more info on what your sources are, DVDMF version etc. etc.

Hi Terry,
Thanks for your reply. I am using 2.0. I know, totally outdated, right?
The last time I used this was for a DVD that I made a world travel film with which was almost 2 years ago and this is the first project I've burned since.
SO I'm using Windows XP 512 RAM, Pentium, Nvidea card, with the footage on a Maxtor Drive and the graphics are just a few lines of text with a simple background. This is the computer I use to edit and playback with Premiere Pro in real time.
I am actually using 2.0 because it has the background file that I was needing and I couldn't find it on 5.0 and when I tried importing the file from the 2.0 folder to the 5.0, it wouldn't let me nor could I open the 2.0 background with a photo editor.
I didn't know the earlier versions, like 2.0 had calculation issues
I took a 2 hour 20 minute project down to 3750 bit rate with speed/quality at 35 (in the middle) and it said it had 3.8 GIGS to burn. I can see what you mean, because when I took this same project and set it for FAIR QUALITY of 4000K transfer rate, it said 4.1, when that should've been over 4.37.
I'll try dumping this same footage into DVD MV 5 and see if it still says
the same amount and I'll mirror the settings from 2.0
??
It would be great if I could find out this puzzling answer.
Converting once again...
Thanks for your help guys,
Scott
