Copying DVD's made from VS9 with Nero problem

Post by ghoofie »

I am burning copies of DVD's made with VS9, using Nero and it's strange..while it's reading the source DVD in my internal DVD-rom, I get source read errors so the burn fails. However, if I insert the source DVD in my external dvd writer, which I used to burn the original DVD from VS, then it reads and burns fine.

The only thing is that I have to swap the source and target discs because I'm only using one drive, but as anyone ever had problems with Nero and VS9 produced DVD's ?

I think it's more an issue with your DVD-ROM than anything else. Some DVD drives and players prefer certain media while rejecting others which work better on other drives. Certain burned media can only be read in a burner, not a DVD ROM.

Hi Ned

If you required multiple copies, you would have done better creating a disc image (ISO file) using video studio.

Then use the Disc Image Recorder to burn your copies. Start-Program-ulead video studio VCD/DVD disc image recorder

The strange thing to me is that I'm able to PLAY the burned movie in the dvd rom that I'm trying to use as the source device. It's only Nero that seems to have a problem with it. And sometimes the Nero software is building the buffer and gets along the way fine and then suddenly, errors.
After a few errors on different discs, one worked. So, I too, am suspecting it's the internal DVD-Rom on my PC.

You know, actually, using my newer external drive as both the source/target, it may have been a little faster because it seemed
to read the source disc a bit faster. My internal DVD-Rom is about
4 years old now. My external is brand new.

Thanks. I'll have to keep that in mind. In this case, I was just converting a bunch of home movies just to get them done. Now I'm making copies for family members.
