Just got my order of VS10+ and I can say I am very impressed with the design and the large amounts of improvements, such as much shorter load times etc. Anyway, my problem comes when trying to capture from my newly aquired HDV camcorder, a Sony HDR-HC1. I have recorded an event on normal DV tapes using the HD feature (I didn't realise until afterwards that the camera was automatically set on recording in HD, since it was only a day old!!). When trying to capture, VS10+ will not allow me to disable the audio preview which I am used to doing, since I believe it adds unnecessary load onto the computer when I can happily hear what I am recording using the camcorder's speaker.
I then used the same method with my normal, DV, SD camcorder which is a Sony DCR-HC85E, except this time it allowed me to disable the audio preview. I will try a short recording I made with the SD setting on the HDR-HC1 and report back, although I am suspecting that the HD setting is the main factor here.
For capturing I am using exactly the same lead, a 1394 FireWire 4pin to 6pin (camcorder to computer
Why is it only possible to disable audio preview in SD rather than HD when capturing?
