Dear Snoops:
Thanks for your wake-up call. I felt I have abused my good friend Oz....
For the record, I alos did """Start the MF Launcher choose Import and click Import from DVD!!!""" but MF 5 would not let me!!
Well, thanks anyway. I will leave all my tapes there for now until after I have done more studying and learning.
Leo with thanks
VOB would not open for MF
Hi Leo,
No, you haven't abused your friend from Oz. He would tell you directly if he was mad.
A MF project file (.dwz) is opened in the main MF5 program, by choosing "Existing project". But in your original post you said you want to import a DVD, so you don't have a project.
Note: If you read some of the other threads here, you'll realize that it is probably not a good idea to edit the imported MPEG2 with MF. MF5 supports this, but it does not seem to be one of its strengths, and MPEG2 editing can have big problems, depending on the contents of the file and how it was encoded.

Well, now we know that you tried to "import" a project file by putting it in a VIDEO_TS folder (!?!), instead of importing a real VIDEO_TS with DVD content.but MF 5 would not let me!!

Leo, rest assured (you can ask others here too), if I felt abused, I'd tell you straight to your face, well, virtually at least.
I admit, sometimes I tend to get frustrated but in your case, I feel, you honestly want to learn and I fail to get through to you. That's why I keep trying to explain it to you in as many different ways as I can. It's not that hard and no, I can't recommend any books on this subject because I never read any myself.
I'm sure that we shall succeed in getting you to convert your valuable tapes eventually, as long as you keep listening to what we have to say to you and follow the advice given.
Don't worry, I don't see you as a nuisance, I see you as a challenge. I thrive on challenges

Dear Snoops and dear master heinz-oz
Dear Snoops and dear master heinz-oz:
Thank you both very kindly. I have just printed all the advice and explanations I have received, especially from Master Heinz-oz and study them very thoroughly and carefully.
This is the most challenging task I have faced. After reviewing, studying and studying these pages, I am sure I would benefit most significantly. Also, after that, I am sure I would have more questions. I will surely ask you again.
The field of videos and videoing is just fascinating and challenging. I will take the challenge in my stride.
Another thing I learned from Master Heinz-oz is his patience and thoroughlness in teaching. I always "yelled" at my law students "Get to the point". When they tried to answer, I would then "yelled" : "What is your pont" etc. But from now on, I would be much more tolerent, sympathetic and patient with my students from now on.
Thank you again, with gratitude.
