Success with "slower" speed

I have an internal HP DVD Writer 200j (2-2.4x). I was trying to use Memorex 8x DVD+R's. I downloaded firmware for my burner to be able to write to the 8x DVD.

I bought some Sony 1-4x dvd's yesterday and made a successful burn. I am assuming I am just unable to burn on the 8x dvd's.

What do you think?

Thanks,
Jim

it's possible

I guess it is possible that your burner just doesn't recognize the 8x dvd's you have.

can you use other burning software (not Ulead) to burn to the 8x discs?

I have the three Ulead programs I have and also Sonic MyDVD, all with no success. I will attempt to burn again today on the 1-4x dvd's. If it works again, I am fine with that. I may just look into upgrading my burner.

Thanks,
Jim

yea, burners have come down so fast over the past few months. I saw a MadDog 8x burner (re-badged NEC2500a???) for $20.00 yesterday (after $30 rebate)...

Just don't use Memorex 8X. I have read some reports that Memorex 8X will have problems on burning, Memorex 4X seems to be OK.

Use other media brands like Sony, TDK, Mitsubishi, Philips, Ritek, Optidisc or Melody....
