How can I get Transition from V9 into V10. Example Album

Post by Morris »

I just upgraded to V10. I had created a project in V9 that included Album transitions and some other mask transitions. When I opened the V9 project in V10. I found that the Album transitions were changed to Accordion. This is mostly likely because V10 contains less transitions that V9; it does not include Album transitions.

I'd like to know how to get those V9 transitions into V10.

I tried to copy the transition files from the effects folder in V9 to the effects folder in V10, but the transitions never showed up in the V10 list.

Please help.

Briefly -- you can't. I am in exactly the same position. In fact, VS10+ *does* come with Album transitions, but for some unexplained reason, a number of us can't get them to show, regardless of re-installs and any number of tweaks I have tried with advice from people on this Board. I also have only one transition under Flashback, when IIRC there should be more than a dozen; and only 2 under Masks, when there should be 7 categories with multiple transitions under each. Every other element of the program appears to be there, however.

When I tried copying the VS9 transitions to VS10, the most I achieved was actually to create an Album category in the Transition drop-down, but it was (and remains) empty. And one Mask transition was actually added, but I don't use the Mask transitions anyway...

I suspect that Intervideo, when it took over Ulead last year, has done a considerable re-write of the program code, and a straight swap is no longer possible.

I have learned to live with it, though am irked by the mystery. I also have the Canopus VideoFX transitions, which include their own smooth album effects which works without the headaches that VS's albums have had in the past. But it costs US$49.95 and a special plug-in to work with VS.

I have also had the same frustrations of less transitions in VS 10+ as to VS 9, particularly frustrating for me is the severe reduction in masks and the fact that you cannot copy over from VS9. I am amazed that what you gain with upgrade, you have to loose something else.
Try Burger transitions, they are fully compatible and free.
