Capturing with S-Video.....

Post by Bagshot »

Hello, I have a problem with S-video when it comes to capturing PAL60. At the moment I can capture it fine through my composite leads, but when I change to S-video, the PAL60 signal turns black and white. Well, I say black and white, but if you look closely there is a faint layer of colour, but only very faint. There is also a vertical green bar about a 1cm thick down the right side of the screen.

If I switch the signal to pure PAL, then the colour returns and the green bar disappears, but switch back to PAL60 and......well, I think you get the picture.

Why is it I can capture PAL60 through composite, but not S-Video?

I have searched high and low for a solution to this problem, but I have had no luck. I capture video from my games consoles and some of the games can only be played through PAL60, so I must find a solution to my problem.

Capture device: VideoXpress by ADS Tech
Software: VideoStudio 9

If anyone has any suggestions or ideas, I will be very grateful.

Thanks.

Hi,

It appears as if your post has been viewed numerous times, and no one (including myself) has any solution. However while doing a google search for PAL60, I did find that on the VideoHelp.com site you have received at least one response to this question..

Sorry no one has been able to help on this..

It is a problem with the settings of your VideoXpress by ADS Tech.
I use a Hauppauge TV Card and find that when using an s-video connection if I get one of the video source settings wrong during the initial setup of the card it comes out in black and white.

Hi guys, thanks for the replies. I have given up on this for now, even the ADS Tech guys won't reply to my e-mails. I think that I am the only person in the entire world that is attempting to capture PAL60.

It seems that there must be something wrong with my device because the PAL60 signal through S-video does have some colour to it, but it all seems patchy and faded. Plus there are stripes of bright colour to one side of the screen.

I've tried all settings and different S-video cables and I can't find a solution to the problem. I will have to save up some money and buy another device or just stick with composites.

Thanks.

Do you have a guarantee? Take it back for a refund/exchange.
