Hello once again,

I have two computers which i'm getting rid off so i can build one specially designed for Video editing,,,,

Here are the specs of the new machine i'd like to buy:
Intel Pentium D Dual Core 3.2GHz
Gigabyte GA-8i945PLG M/B i945
1024MB = 1GB Memory DDR 2
300GB Storage
6 Channel Audio
256 Gerforce 6200 Graphics
400W Deluxe Tower Case
7 USB Ports
Dual Layer DVD Burner
Multimedia Internet Keyboard
19" Wide Screen LCD Panel
Bonus 19 in 1 Card Reader
2.1CH Subwoofer Speaker System
$1399

Is this a good price? = is this good for video editing....

Increase your RAM to 2 GB or more, make sure your video card is PCIe and create a video editing profile on your new system. For that system, $1300 is a little high, but it will certainly handle video editing.

You might find that the quoted price is Australian dollars, around 25% less in US$. Not a bad price.

And Antz, is that a system already put together for that price by some company, or just a list of parts which total that price? I am interested because I would agree with Heinz that it looks like a good system and a very good price (at least here in Australia...) And if it is a company, what is its address??!!

Good point, Oz, I didn't think of that. As you say, the price would be good then.

Yes it is AU dollars - i live in Merrylands Sydney.... the shop is called J & W. So you reallly think its a good price?

The price also includes labour (putting it all together)

That system is a simple "Standard" PC.
I see nothing "specially designed for Video editing" except for the processor & MB Chipset (945)
It will work great for programs like VideoStudio. I would add a harddisk.
I'm new to video editing and the only thing i use is Ulead VS maybe as i get better at it i would prob end up with a different more professional program... but for now i thought i'd buy something that was affordable and fast. When you say that it is a simple standard pc what would be the difference between one that is mainly used for video editing?

This is an affordable video editing system.

Sorry but this pricing is way out of my league at the moment... i feel that its pretty expensive $3040 compared to $1399.

Thanks

Avoid the Pentium D

Avoid the Pentium D. At this point it is way old school.

Intel Core 2 Duo [note Core 2, not Core] or
AMD X2 is the way to go.
