VS10 Transitions

Thanks for the good info. When I click on transitions currently there is no albums showing up, so my question is (now that I know where they are located), how do I add them to VS10? Thanks!

Daniel -- thanks for the offer. But I actually have the album.vfx file and, as you say, it is 428 KB in size. It is there in the correct folder, but it just does not show up in the program! At least, I now at least have the category appear in the Transitions drop-down list, but it is empty!

I suspect it is a quirk in the code, and the secret probably lies in one of the more than 70 .ini files in the program. However, a colleague on this Board whose transitions all work well, including the albums, has sent me the main suspect .ini's, and I have done a line by line comparison of them, and mine are identical!

I have now given up, and simply use the album equivalents in my Canopus VideoFX, which work well (and are rendered far faster than I ever recall them being rendered in VS9). But as I just said in another post on this subject, the mystery rankles as to why this, and just this, admittedly relatively minor aspect of the program does not seem to work...

Ken please don't give up! I am relying on you, and other knowledgable members of this forum to solve this problem of the Album transitions. I am in exactly the same position as yourself, I also have no Album Transitions showing in my version of Ulead VS10+, and my hopes raise everytime the Album transition problem arises by someone using this excellent forum. We are right behind you.

do you have a line in

[Library_Install]

that says

VersionCompare=0
EffectFolder=Album

?

I also have no Album transitions showing in my version of US10+, but unlike Ken I don't have the Album showing in the drop-down list. I have no Album file in the Vfx_plug folder either.
I have just looked at your suggestion, and I have not got a line in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Ulead Systems\
Ulead VideoStudio\10\uvs.ini
that says:-

[Library_Install]

VersionCompare=0
EffectFolder=Album

Update:
I have inserted the Album.vfx file (obtained from a user with the Albums showing) into the Vfx_Plug folder, still no Album showing in the drop-down.
I did a 'repair' from the installation disc. Album then showed in the drop-down, but when I click to open it there is no transitions showing.
I have looked again in the uvs.ini file and I now have a line:-

VersionCompare=0
EffectFolder=Album

But still no Album transitions available!!!
It gets more and more complicated, I understand why Ken has 'given up'

Has anyone tried uninstalling and reinstalling the latest Indeo driver.

Just something nagging in the back of my mind.

I am going to stick with VS9 for now as I don't see a significant reason to upgrade. I like the album transitions and it appears that they've been excluded from this new release.

Altone -- that is how I got Album to appear in the dropdown, and like yours, mine is also empty.

And Daniel, that is also how I got those lines in my uvs.ini file.

I have uninstalled the old Indeo codec and installed the latest 5.11 version.
It made no difference to the availability of the Album Transitions.
I still cannot get the Album Transitions showing.

Hi

I am in the fortunate position of having the Album Transitions available.

I was looking at my system trying to make sense of your missing albums.

I renamed the Album..vfx to Albumcopy.vfx
Video Studio closed whilst attempting to boot with a warning note.
Ok so I renamed the file correctly.
This time on starting VS, the ‘blue process bar appeared’ ‘please wait’

I have seen this before when adding Burger Transitions and assume VS to be reloading the library.

This re-load took ages, I mean ages, when complete I found an extra album transition. Well a duplicate one. I now had two ‘flip’ ones

The file Album.vfx remained the same size, as though it had not been modified, but where is the extra ‘Flip’ saved.????????

The point is that I had forced VS to reload the library. I think.

Maybe you could try this approach.
I realise you may have replaced the file with the vs9 one, which may have the same effect??????????

I think this is called ‘clutching at straws’

Tried your suggestion, renamed the album.vfx file to albumcopy.vfx, got the warning note, so I renamed the album .vfx file correctly and opened VS. Didn't get a lengthy blue bar, VS opened and still no Album transitions.

Yes we are clutching at straws, but what else can we do. Ulead support is non existant, I cannot believe a company would ignore its customers like Ulead do, and hope to remain in business. Just look through this forum, at the problems that go unresolved and not helped by Ulead.
It states on the top of this forum page 'Ulead Support is not obliged to answer in this forum.' Have they ever replied to any request, either in this forum or by e-mail via support? All my e-mails to Ulead have always been unanswered. I give up with Ulead.

I think this is an interesting case.

My UVS 10 Plus also has the album transitions by default.

I think Ulead needs to provide some sort of patch so customers/users have the album transitions available.

... And lets not forget about the missing Mask and Flashback transitions (of which only two and one respectively were installed...)
