I'm trying out the free download of VS10. I pulled a project into VS10 that was created in VS9, and my album transitions no longer appear to be available. Is there a way to add them to VS10?
I also don't see an enlarge feature in 10 to see all pics in a single view. At this point I'm not seeing many new enhancements that make me want to purchase the upgrade.
One other issue. I opened a project which was created in VS9 into VS10. It now appears that I can no longer open the project in VS9.
And that does surprise you? First of all, your trial version will have certain limitations. One limitation with all trial versions is the inability to apply patches. That also goes for content from previous versions, these cannot be inserted into a trial.
When you open any document, (never mind a WORD, Excel etc., you name it), in the latest version, save it and try to open it in the previous version...well, it don't work.
I don't know if VS 10 has this functionality but it's worth a try. Can you save to a previous versions format? If that is not possible, I fear you may have to complete your project in your trial version or start from scratch in the old version.
You've touched a nerve with me by mentioning the Album transitions. Now, they are actually there in VS10+, but there are less of them than in VS9. (Some of them simply did not work in VS9 and Ulead appears to have dropped some of them.) And I am not sure that you can just copy over those that are in VS9. At least, I haven't found a way either by myself or with the aid of another of the more knowledgable members of this Board. (My version of VS10, you see, doesn't even show Album transitions at all!!!)
As for your second question, do you mean the extended view in Storyboard mode which brings up a large pane on which all or most of the icons of the files on your storyboard are shown? If so, then in VS10, in Storyboard mode, up in the left hand corner immediately above the storyboard itself (and in the space where the ruler appears in timeline mode), there is a small upward pointing arrow with another black line under it. That will give you the expanded view. To return it to normal storyboard view, there is a downward pointing arrow in the top left hand corner of the expanded view box.
As for the project file, when you opened it in VS10, you probably then inadvertently saved it before closing it. It thus would have been converted to VS10 format, and I am afraid that while VS10 can open VS9 project files, VS9 cannot open VS10 ones...
The album transitions seem to be a concern within VS10. Some, including me, have the album transitions, while others do not, and I'm referring to both Full download and boxed versions. For further information on migrating effects and transitions please read Steve's tutorial found HERE.
The Enlarge button (if you are referring to enlargement of the storyboard view ), is found in the upper left side of the timeline, just below the storyboard icon. It is an underlined Up arrow. Just like in VS9, you must be in Storyboard view to access it.

Hi Ron, I'm a new user. How do I know if my boxed version of VS10+ has the album transitions or not?
And to use them, they have to appear in the drop-down which appears when you click on Transitions. Album should appear as a separate category. And when you select that, it should show a number of transitions. In my case, Album did not even originally appear. And when I tried transferring the VS9 ones over, at least I got an Album category to appear, but it was empty!! Hopefully, yours will not be!

Ken, and others that may be interested:
Ulead are not that foolish...
The TBYB version of VS10 allows to open a project and save it back as VS9 version or VS10 version. This of course is not apparent in the full version. If you had been a careful guy, testing your VS10 for 29 days and 23 hours before buying foolishly like you should, you would know that.
(note to self: This board if full of strange people, some inconsequent, others grumpy...)

Some in this forum would suggest a re-install.
No, not me.
...And this physician has tried to heal himself with a re-install no less than 3 times, all with exactly the same result! And with my reinstalls, I first do a total uninstall, including a full search and destroy mission in the Registry...
Well Mr Berry, I can only testify that they work well north of the equator.
And of course you had no problem in VS9 with those?
As far as I can see, they're all in one file Album.vfx, 428KB in size.
Do you have this one in the VFX_plug folder?
If not, can you find that on your installation disk?
If not, it zips to 205K, do you want me to e-mail it?
If I'm not able to use the Albums transitions in VS10 I'll probably stay with version 9. The albums is the coolest of the transitions in my opinion. So far I just don't see any significant reasons to pay for the upgrade. Basic functionality doesn't seem to be much different. Most of the enhancements seem to be geared for special needs. I was hoping for many new cool transitions.
I'll probably start my project over since I opened it with version 10 I'm not able to use it any longer in version 9, and I do want the album transitions.

Hi Joe,
As Daniel stated, the transitions are kept in the vfx_plug folder (C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio 10\Vfx_plug ). The album file is called Album.vfx. Navigate to the above folder to see if it is there.
To access the Album transitions, click on the Library drop-down menu, scroll to select Transitions. You should see Album listed. Select it and you should see the transitions.
