are upgrades stand alone programs?

I will be upgrading from VS7 to Vs10. Is the the downloaded upgrade program a complete stand alone installation.Do I need the older VS7 installed? Is the reduced price a promotion for previously buying a Ulead product?

The upgrade is a full version in any sense of the word. However, you cannot install it unless the install program can find proof of your owning the qualifying product. Depending on the program and version, you may need to provide the location of the setup.exe or enter the serial number of the previous version. This version does not have to be installed on your system though.

If you have the disc version 7, by placing the disc in a drive and installing vs 10 from another drive the install will be ok.
You may be able to swap discs during install??????

The easiest way is to leave VS 7 installed on your pc.
no problems.

By the way you are best buying the boxed version rather than the download.

I upgraded from VS9E to VS 10 - can I uninstall VS9E now?

Yes you can uninstall the older versions.

Vs 10 should work ok.

Although many users have retained there older versions with no problems.
Maybe just for reference to help forum members.
