Cutting and Pasting Projects.

Post by DGV »

One more question -

Is it possible to Cut a 2 hour project at, say, 1 hour, and paste the second half of the project into a new timeline - to, in effect make 1x 2 hour project into 2x seperate 1 hour projects, without having to re-trim, add music etc?

Cheers.

With your long project in the timeline, save it as a project calling it, say, Part01.vsp. Then save it again as, say, Part02.vsp. With the latter still in the timeline, cut out the first half and save again. Close the project and open Part01.vsp. Cut out the second half of that, and save. You now have two project files, with the two halves of your video on them. You can use these to produce two separate DVD-comaptible mpeg-2s (Share > Create Video File > DVD) and later burn them to separate DVDs (Share > Create Disc > DVD).

Thanks Ken. I will give it a shot! Often the trickiest problems have the simplest answers.

Have a good one!

Hi

Just a small note, when creating part 2 all clips in the main timeline will move left when removing the clips from part 1.

You will have to use the Ripple Effect to keep the clips in order.
