Ricoh just announced they've developed Blu-Ray/DVD HD/DVD/CD optics, so if I were you I'd wait for the inevitable multi-burners to come out.

The Sony BWU-100A seems to be a real product - not a joke like the Toshiba HD-DVD unit. At $750, they should pay for shipping.

BTW, the Blu-Ray blank disks are available from BHPhotoVideo for 17.50 per disk. These might make nice beer coasters until the software gets debugged... :D

OK, Ulead, this is a serious proposal: Send me one of these Blu-Ray burners and a dozen Blu-Ray disks and I will test and QA Video Studio 10+ burning software and playback capabilities with my high definition video library - pro bono. :D

I am sure that Terry (tyamada) would also volunteer his time!

Also, please send me a Sony SR1 so that we can be sure that the hard disk, hi def camcorders will also work with this burner!!! :D :D
