VS10 image slide shows, best method?

Post by Machineman »

What is the best way to make an image slide show to insert in a DVD menu? Im familiar with previous MF versions which would group them all up and render it for you. But with the VS10 movie wizard I don't see that option.

Do I manually piece it together with an audio track in VS10 editor and render to video file? If so what compression should I use for the image video file? Also is there a check box that will fit all images to audio duration?

Thanks.

Hi

There is not a best method, its just personal preferences, I use the video editor.
But I do use image 4:3 or 16:9 ratio for widescreen.
This requires the use of an image editor.

From File Preferences—
Edit Default insert image 12 seconds
Default transition effect 4 seconds
Change these to your liking.

File preferences—Use default transitions—select an effect or use random.
Some transitions take longer to render than others. The Album ones are particularly long.

You should have an idea of the number of images. You are either fitting audio to images or images to audio.

100 images using the above duration will be 800 seconds About 13 minutes 20 seconds.
(8 seconds per image.)

Add your images to the timeline.
Add a colour clip to either end.
Add titles
Render the project to Dv-Avi
Using the new file
Add audio, use both audio tracks this allows you to overlap the start and endings.
Use fade in/out.
To fine tune the lengths, change the playback speed of the main video to match the video and audio lengths

OR
Add your images to the timeline.
Add a colour clip to either end.
Add titles
Add audio, use both audio tracks this allows you to overlap the start and endings.
Fit audio as near as possible to length of project.
Use audio fade in/out.
Change the duration of the images to match the audio duration ‘Select all images’ Clip-Change Image Duration
Render to video file

Other editing methods using Pan & Zoom can be applied to individual images
Use the overlay tracks.
