Thumbnail number repeats every menu

Post by hagadorn »

How do I get the thumbnail numbers to advance into the next menu? Right now, I have 23 thumbnails over 5 menu pages and on each menu, the thumbnails number 1-5. I want them to progress from 1-23.

Should I assume from the lack of response that nobody knows the answer, or have I not explained it well? Hasn't anyone else run across this problem? I did an earlier project where this didn't occur, so I don't know what I did differently then...

If you’re looking for the "Enlarge/Minimize library" it’s the icon button with two little downward pointing arrows stacked on top of each other - in the upper right hand side of the Edit page.

Hi

Sorry for the lack of response, I was not sure what to say.

I think you are correct, that the numbers do repeat themselves throughout the individual menu pages.
This should not be a problem as you select the video clips to play from the individual menu screens.

I do not use the numbers, but navigate the menu pages using the arrow keys.

Many users may not require that many thumbnails.
I believe that VS 9 menu’s could be customised to include 12 thumbnails per menu page, sufficient for most movies.

I have yet to use VS 10 to create a disc, but looking at the menu structure it does seem limited.
I only see 9 thumbnails max to each menu page.

Can other forum users confirm the amount of thumbnails you can fit to a menu page.

A work-around would be to set the menu to use the title of each thumbnail only. (When editing the menu in VS10, select Advanced and switch off 'Add thumbnail number".) And if you are wedded to having them numbered, then in the title you could add a number. In other words, instead of having VS insert the 1, 2, 3 etc after which you would add your titles, don't have VS insert anything. Then you can manually call your menu items "1. Item One"; "2. Item Two" etc.
