how do i get the titles created in video studio9?

Post by makeitorbreakit »

How do I get the titles created in video studio9 now that I have video studio 10+?

I spent allot of time on the credits for the TV show call makeitorbreakit.com and I dread having to re-type all of it all over again.
Any suggestions?

In principle, yes.

However once you select the text in VS there is no 'copy' or 'paste' in the context menu. CTRL-C will work to get it into the clipboard for pasting into Notepad though. CTRL-V will paste it into VS.

Tip: create your title text in Notepad then save it in the project folder as a backup. Copy/paste it into VS.

I have the effects and timing all set in studio 9.
The copy and paste are fine, considering I have to do fx’s, times, scrolls, crawls, etc.

Any other suggestions? (Smile)

I think what you mean is that you have created a title sequence that you re-use in your productions - perhaps with a word or two changed to reflect the current title/topic?

If so save this as a VS9 project file.
Open the VS9 project file with VS10+

Check to make sure everything works as it should and now save the file again as a VS10+ project file.

Hi

Your library files are saved to

Edit to show correct locatiom, sorry for wrong info Trevor

C:\Documents and Settings\your name\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio\9.0

The library files are named, VS_Video.dat,---------VS_Title.dat etc.

If your titles are important to you as you are suggesting, make a copy of VS_Title.dat elsewhere on your hard drive.

Now copy and paste VS_Title.dat Into:-

C:\Documents and Settings\your name\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio\10

Be aware that this will overwrite the 10 file(make a copy of that just in case.)

You should be able to view the titles in VS 10

Other than that create a project (vsp) containing all your titles using VS 9
Then open the project in 10.
Drag the titles to the library.

can you clarify where the library data resides - I've followed your path but can't locate the folder Application Data.

thanks.

Ilene -- hi again! I suspect you don't have your Windows set to display hidden files and folders (which is the default setting). To correct this, in either Windows Explorer or My Computer, go to Tools > Folder Options > View and check the box 'Show Hidden Files and Folders' a few items down from the top. This will open up a new world, though it pays not to fiddle too much with any of the files unless you know what you are doing. But Trevor's advice is detailed in this case...

libraries and more on audio crash problem

Post by Ilene »

Hi Ken - I was thinking that it might be something like that. I followed your advice and located the files.

By the way - did you see the thread I started yesterday "Video Studio 10+ crashing loading audio files" - Please take a look....I'd appreciate some advice.

I'm thinking that I "debugged" the error message on installation instead of cancelling the install or "ignoring the message" - hence it must of debugged the "instruction" and affected the registry which affected both VS9 and VS10+.

I'm thinking of doing a system restore back to Sunday night - 24hrs - prior to the install. Perhaps this will restore VS9 back to it's original settings.

By the way I think the error message was due to the fact that I used VS9 with MCE.

Otherwise - I can back up my libraries and uninstall and reinstall 9 and 10+ - but I'd rather not do that.

Or Ulead sent me a full version of 10+ ( as opposed to the upgrade) to install. I don't know if it can co-exist with VS9 or whether I have still uninstall it - which again is not a preferrable option for me.

Also I did a test last night - I created a short video on VS10+ using a WMA audio file that I ripped from from my cd/dfvvd drive using Windows Media Player - an extra step but seemed to work fine. Are there any negatives to using WMA files? the bit rate was only 192kbps but I don't know if that matters???

Thanks.

In response to Terry's reply to the original posted question, Terry stated,
Tip: create your title text in Notepad then save it in the project folder as a backup. Copy/paste it into VS.
Can you create your title text in Microsoft Word in lieu of using Notepad? I would assume you could.

Thanks.

Bryan.
Yes plus you get the added benefit of a spell checker.
Terry suggested Notepad because not everyone has Microsoft Word but Notepad is built into Windows.

Hi

Yes, as said, you can copy and paste the text from word/notepad to video studio.
This an esy way ti insert your toxt, especiely if you ar a bad speler like me.

If you want to copy the title including the animations then you have to save a VS file.

Either by saving the file VS_Title.dat
Or
Creating a Vsp containing the titles, then saving the Vsp.

The Vsp can be re-opened, dragging the titles to the library.
