Smart Compositor crashes

Post by Devil »

I don't usually use SC, because I can do pretty much the same without it, with fewer overheads. However, I was consumed by a fit of laziness yesterday and used one of them. I was rather surprised to have it crash out of VE on me, twice, while working from the timeline. I then proceeded to a systematic set of tests to see whether I could find out why.

I believe I found the source of the crashes. It is, I think, because all the template files are in NTSC and complex multi-level, multi-timeline work with PAL project settings is too much for the system.

I converted all the files from NTSC to PAL, starting at the most distant sub-timeline, working my way back to the main timeline. It became as steady as a rock. It's a pity they didn't offer the templates in PAL, as well as NTSC. :(

It's a pity they don't sort out ALL of the problems with smart compositor which HAVE been reported to them previously and mentioned elsewhere in this forum.

The Smart Compositer is THE function that would make MediaStudio stand head and shoulders above all the others.

I just installed the template pack. Two clicks and I crash. Everything is NTSC.
I'll play with it some more to see if I can figure it out.

Just to satisfy my curiosity as I have been following several threads relating to the Smart Compositor. Have you got a traditional setup with your Operating system and the program installed on your C drive?
