Problem Sharing VIDEO - losing edges of video??

Post by Boydie »

Hi All

I have been using VIDEOSTUDIO since version 8 to produce DVDs and I LOVE the product for its ease of use and professional results

I am now just getting in to sharing videos over the internet and need some help!!!!

I have created a video in VIDEOSTUDIO 10 PLUS and when I try to create a version for sharing I am having a niggling problem

I have heard that WMV is the best format for compression to get a small file size and good quality (????)

Everytime I try to use this format I lose the edges (both sides) of my video

I have a Star Wars style opening credit (thanks to this forum  ) but when I try to creat a WMV file for sharing it cuts the first and last letters off of my opening titles :-(

My video is 720 * 576

I am assuming it is something to do with this but I can't find a WMV option to match this frame size

I am new to this so I don't fully understand frame size, bit rates etc...

All I want is a setting that will give me a small file size video (e.g. around 4MB for 2minutes if video + sound) of EXACTLY what I can see in VIDEOSTUDIO 10 PLUS (i.e. not cut bits off)

I am really hoping someone here can set me on the right path as this is driving me nuts!!!!

I have been trying to solve this myself but always end up with the 2 extremes

I can get a small file size with the edges cut off or a massive file size with everything there!

Thanks in advance for any help!

Hi

What are the properties, the frame size of the Wmv files you are creating.

I have tried different frame sizes - the latest has been 320 * 240 and I also tried 640 * 480 (or something like like that)

I thought that although the sizes are smaller the conversion would shrink everything

I could not find a way to change the FRAME SIZE of an WMV (I did try the Make Movie Manager but the FRAME SIZE option seemed to be greyed out??)

Thanks for the response Trevor
