Error 80004005 when multiplexing

Post by derkuechenchef »

When I try to burn a disc image to my harddisc, my DVD Power Tools 2.0 Trial Version stops at 'Video/Audio Multiplexing...' giving an 'unspecified error' 80004005.

When I burn a disc image with a predefined menu all works fine. But when I try burning using my own (complex) menus the program fails.

Has anyone an idea why DWS stops at this point?

Thanks,
Thomas

For those who may be wandering 'DVD Power Tools' is the German name for DVD Workshop.

When you go to the 'Finish' stage did any warning messages appear such as overlapping buttons?

What type of audio have you inserted - Sometimes there are problems with MPG files - try converting them to WAV files beforehand.

(Yes, there was a time when I was confused about the different labelling, too, when I first came in contact with ulead (movie factory2 = filmbrennerei1 or the like...)...)

I had such a warning 'overlapping buttons' and consequently adjusted the menues so that the warning message did not pop up anymore.

I have formed a menu structure following the website tutorial for 'roll over' effects, so that I have about 10 menues which are linked together pointing to each other. I also have large hided automated 'buttons' covering almost the whole preview window on each menue for leading back to the main menue. But I get no warning messages and the preview works fine!

My video file is mpeg2 with mpeg audio which I recorded years ago with the hauppauge win tv350 (cannot use a lot of my other files because the trial version does not support dolby digital and lpcm audio brings my pc to it's limits (Pentium IV, 2.66, 512 MB Ram). Audio type inserted was only one single mp3-file.

But I did my little test with the predefined menue with a piece of video from the same source (also mpeg video and audio)(although without inserted audio) - and it worked!

So I guess maybe my first mpeg file is corrupted. Tried to fix it with Video ReDo (quickstream fix with the Movie Factory button both activated and deactivated) but without result - I'm getting the same error.

Will now try the same file in a new project with predefined menue - but if this will also fail to work I'm at my wits' end.... (at least, for now).

As a process of elimination, try deleting the hidden button and see if the error is still present.

If you think you have a corrupt MPG file and need some other source video material for testing DVDWS then you will find some at the bottom of this link

Thank You Steve, I could fix it! You were right with the audio.
But I did my little test with the predefined menue with a piece of video from the same source (also mpeg video and audio)(although without inserted audio) - and it worked!
Yes, I just simply unchecked the box for background music for the single menue where I used an mp3 file (made with media player 10/192 kb) - and the error was fixed! Can you explain why this can make problems to DWS2? You seem to know about this issue? I realized that the starting of the file was somewhat delayed in the preview (compared to a wav file that I had been loaded before).

Just after this I ran into the next problem (which I probably should post in another thread...):

My 'roll over' menues do not 'roll over' when opening the VIDEO_TS folder on my harddisc (with WinDvd4). I can select the title menues with the mouse but the roll over effect is not present. The same is true for the DVD which I burned afterwards but I even cannot select all chapters with the remote control and the behavior of some buttons is strange. In the preview it all works perfect! (with the mouse but not with the buttons)

I also wonder about the DWS_TS folder which is created. It seems to contain the pictures for the motion effects (but cannot burn directly out of DWS2 because I have no burner installed currently).

I know there are updates for burning issues but they do not work for the trial version.

MP3 is a very compressed audio format that is quite difficult to synch to video frames when remuxing because of the way its audio 'frames' are laid out.

In my experience it's best to convert your MP3 sources to WAV's when using them in a video editor or authoring program, even if they supposedly "support" them. Software brand doesn't matter.

I didn't post for this long time because I decided not to get too deeply (emotionally) involved for now with my above mentioned problems during the trial period but only simply see what DWS2 could do for me and what not. After the trial period (about 14 days left) I will post an report of the pros and cons I came across during this period.

Nevertheless I've got another question. In the disc template dialog the option 'user defined setting' (for end-video solution) is greyed out so that I cannot use it. Is this a limitation of the trial version or of the MPEG.now decoder itself? I would like to see my diashows not in the PAL solution 720x576 but rather in my monitor's solution of 1920x1200.

Thank You again,
Thomas

Uh? You are trying to make a 1920x1200 video DVD? Sorry, there ain't no sich animal.

If you make a data video file at that resolution (don't ask me how!) with a high compression, you may be able to copy ~15 minutes worth on a DVD disk, but you cannot author it in WS2.
