Multi-trimming and saving trimmed clips

I have the latest Dell 8400 with Raid 0 drives (360 Gig) w/ 1 g ram and a 3.4 processor. My question is I recently captured a 50 minute video all at once. After that I used the Multi-trim feature and was able to send about 110 clips to the timeline. I then proceeded to go to the high quality preview which rendered my clips but it caused Video Studio 8.01 to lock up. To fix this, I went in and saved trimmed clips on each of the 110 clips. Once this was done, I re-rendered and did a project playback and it was fine. I thought once you 'extracted' the clips from the main video , you could do a 'preview' of your clips, but it didn't let me do this until each of the clips were saved 1 at a time. Is this normal?
