Add effect to overlay?
Moderator: Ken Berry
you can have fade-in, fade-out, move in from all eight directions, move out to all eight directions, or use most if not all (never tried them all) video filters including crop etc.
You can also have them rotate while they come in.
The only thing you can't do is have Transitions between two adjacent overlay clips.
Oh and I forgot, you can surround them with a choice of 14 different masks. You can also modify transparency and add a border.

You actually can do this, but in a roundabout way. In a new project, put your clips on the main video track and add your transitions. Render that to a new video file. Now go back to your original project and add that video file to your overlay track. Voila. The only thing you can't do is have Transitions between two adjacent overlay clips.

True, but then if you want to cheat that way, you can do it even better.
Don't make a video file, just save the project with the transitioned overlays and then insert that VSP on the overlay track.
This way you don't have to render twice the same image/video.
Doing it repeatedly is as close to nested timelines as you get.
