When using the advanced version of video editing (not the wizard), I cannot figure out how to import video AND audio that I have recorded to a mini-DVD-RW using my Samsung SC-DC164 to the Ulead VideoStudio 9 program. I tried clicking on "Import from DVD/DV-R and imported my movies that way, but when I tried to put them into a project and onto the timeline, it would not include the audio that went along with that particular video. It would be silent. Then I tried to read up and learn about "Capturing" the video from my camcorder directly into the program, but could not figure out how to get it to extract the data from the DVD-RW to the PC.
Please help asap!! In a nutshell, I need to import the video AND the audio from the DVD-RW that I have recorded on my camcorder into my PC, and I cannot figure out how to do it.
I have formatted and finalized the disk, so that is not the problem.
I record myself (and my bandmates) while we're playing at local clubs and rehearsing, and I'd like the audio and video on the project. I don't want pre-made audio or anything like this.

Hi Leviathan, and welcome to the forums..
First I done a quick read on your camcorder. It records to MPEG-4. Since you are using VS9, have you downloaded and installed the free MPEG-4 plug-in from Ulead? If not then I don't know how you are going to get it. I just spent about 10 mins searching Ulead's web for the page containing the MPEG-4 and HD plug-ins. I guess they no longer exist. (I'll say if for you thanks Ulead ). So to get the MPEG-4 plug-in you will have to contact Ulead.
When you import your video can you right-click on a clip and select properties and post them here? That may give us a better idea on what to look at..

Normally you do get the audio along with the video, would be crap otherwise.
Why, in your case, there does not seem to be any audio is anybodies guess. We need a lot more data to judge that.
Have a read of this http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic.php?t=8959 and come back with the data we need.
As someone else said here recently We are good, but we are not telepathic

Thank you for the response, Vidoman. I right-clicked on my imported from DVD clip, and that is what was shown to me.
I found another answer back on page 7 or 8 that explained that VideoStudio 9 SE (which is what I have) doesn't support Dolby audio? Is that what the problem is?
Also, no I don't have the MPEG-4 plugin. I don't have any plug-ins... should I have?

Since you are using an SE version it does not support Dolby Digital, and you are not going to be able to install the MPEG-4 or HD plug-ins. They are for the full registered versions.
So for you to be able to use the audio, you would need to convert it to MPEG audio or LPCM. Or you could upgrade to VS10 Plus, SE versions do qualify for the upgrade price. VS10+ does support HD, MPEG-4, Dolby 2.0 and 5.1 surround.

You could also try installing this free Dolby AC-3 filter from http://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=AC3_Filter That should at least allow you to import your Dolby audio, but it will not allow you to re-encode that audio outwards as part of a new project. You would have to convert it to either LPCM or mpeg layer 2 audio.
