PEX7 Pro New camera can't be found.

Post by grayback »

I've been using PEX 7 pro for over a year and have had no problem getting pictures from 3 different cameras (DSC2000,HP318I,FujiS7000). I recently purchased a Canon S2-IS and install the software that came with the camera. It works fine getting the pics. from the camera using the standard download and TWAIN. When I tried to configure PEX7 to read the camera, it doesn't see it? It will, however, work with TWAIN but that's a pain in the rear. I don't like the Canon software and want to continue using PEX7. Any ideas out there?

Thanks. . . .

I have never used PEX 7, I use version 8.6 (only available with PI 11). I don't have any issues with both my Canon cameras. I suggest an upgrade to PEX 8.5 since support for PEX 7 is no longer available.

When I connect my camera to the computer it is assigned a drive letter in windows explorer and I can move the pictures from the camera to the hard drive as though the camera was also a hard drive.

Can you not do it that way?

There is one problem though with your approach Steve, if I remember correctly, importing your images that way will lose you the Exif info stored with the image on your camera. Incidentally, using PEX to copy the images from the camera loses a large part of the Exif as well.

That's why I have gone back to using the software that came with my latest Canon to transfer the images. After that I use PEX to keep my images sorted. PEX is also the only program I know that allows you to rotate a portrait image without losing quality. You can rotate the image in WIN Explorer but look at the file size before and after

I suppose I could retrieve pictures from this camera numerous ways but I kinda wanted to use one program like PEX 7 since I seem to use it more than any of the other software I have. I'm not going to upgrade to PEX 8 unless I know that this camera will work with it. Does anyone use a Canon S2-IS with PEX8?
