How to extract a still image from a video clip?

Post by quintalcosta »

I have been trying to figure out how to extract an image from a video clip, and the place it on the Midia Library on MSP8. Up to this moment I was unable to do it.

Can someone help?

Thanks

This goes back to Version 5.2 and I used it in 6.5, kinda kludgy but it worked. increase the size of the preview window to full screen (720x480) scrub to the frame you want and Print Screen, that copies the screen to the clipboard. Open a graphics program like photoshop, and create a new image the size of your screen display (600x800, etc) and paste the clipboard into the canvas. you will have to massage it a bit to get rid of the extraneous material, Save it whatever format you like.and then import into the library.

Thanks Omegaman.

But, isn't there a simpler way to do it? I mean, there must be a control do do it in an easier way. It must to. Meanwhile, I will try what you sugest.

There certainly is. I'm not at my video machine now and won't be for at least another 6 hours. I also don't use MSP8.

Have you read the manual or looked at the help files? Somewhere there is a function to capture the current frame as a still image.

And, as is often the case with MSP8, there is more than one way to skin the cat. You can use the VC module, move to the frame you want and "Capture Single Frame" (Manual p. 222). Or, if your need is appropriate, there is also "Freeze Frame" (p. 69).
