3D Rotation

Post by SebastianMoe »

Wondering if anyone might know a way around the limitations of the full 3D roation function...

When you create a single shape, PhotoImpact allows you to roate it in a number of ways, including full 3D rotation, found under the rotate commands section. However, when you have a number of shapes or objects grouped together as one thing, it no longer allows you to use the 3D rotate.

If you create a logo let's say, that is made up of several objects grouped together, how would you rotate that in 3D?

Thanks!

The best way would be a 3D program, not a 2D one. Download a trial of Ulead Cool3D and see how you go. You can't sign in ink with a pencil.

The 3D Rotation Tool locks the center of rotation in the middle of a single selection. Which means you cannot group multiple objects, since each would have to have a separate center of rotation. The Tool was not designed to accomplish that task. You might suggest this action as a possible feature for the next Version.

However, you can still apply the 3D Rotation Tool to each of several objects and use the Properties or Align tools to align each object with other objects and then after rotation group them together. A little more work but you can still accomplish the visual look. In addition, if you want to use an object with a shadow, simply detach the shadow from the object and then treat the shadow as a separate object.
