Fading audio at end of slideshow?

Post by lpfannen »

Using PS-4, having pretty good luck except for recent crashes, but I save often. QUESTION: What is the technique to providing a slow fade on the final slide?

I know it ends the music when the pictures end, but I would like a slow fade out on the final picture.

Thanks for you assistance,

Hi Lynn,

The audio fade in/out profile is preset and as you've noticed, is fairly abrupt. Your best bet would be to edit your track(s) in an outside wav/mp3 editor and then import to your sildeshow. If you don't have an audio editor I'd recommend an excellent freeware program called "Audacity". There's a bit of a learning curve but the basics aren't too difficult to master.

audio fade at end...

Thanks for your reply. You are the go-to guy on this board - Ulead should be sponsoring you. Anyway, I guess there is no way to put a black slide at the end, and they as the picture fades from the last slide, into the black page, have the audo continue a gentle fade out???

I have looked at a pgm called Goldwave, which could handle this. Will need to review further.

BTW - I am alarmed at the level of frustration on this board. I thought I was pretty happy about this pgm, but worry it may make a u-turn on me. Wonder if Ulead actually reads these posts. If they do, it could not hurt them to step up to some of the comments.

Thanks, and take care,

Don't worry to much about that, Lynn,

Some people only come here to rant and are not really looking for help, others have ulterior motives or are recalcitrants how use pirated copies and can't get them to work.

There is the odd one every now and then with a real problem but we usually get to the bottom of their problems in time.

Most of us regular posters or moderators are using, collectively, any piece of software there is from Ulead. Not everyone is using all of it. For example, I have DVD PictureShow 2 but don't use it anymore because MSP 7.3 is more flexible for me in creating picture shows.

Generally speaking, hardly any happy user of ULEAD products come here to express their appreciation, it's disgruntled users that have problems. These only represent a small portion of all users though.

Once it works on your system it will keep working unless you change something. If that happens, there is always help at hand here.

Hey Lynn,

Just here to help but many thanks for the props :-)

Heinz-Oz comments are right on the money. The forum is a great place for tips and general questions but most users only visit/post when they have a serious problem. This represents only a tiny fraction of users versus the hundreds of thousands who have purchased this program. I use a wide variety of video apps and honestly have found Ulead products to be among the most compatible and problem free.

To your question, adding a blank (black) slide to the end of your show will help smooth things out visually but the audio fade-out will still be abrupt. Re standalone audio editing apps, GoldWave is definitely a time-proven and respected editor. No question it can do the job but I would urge you to give Audacity a try before sepnding $45 on GW. Audacity is truly a first-rate editor and the fact that it's free is quite amazing.

What you are saying is so true Heinz. We never do get to hear from all the Happy Users of the Program. I am new to the Program and to Ulead. I bought the CD&DVD Picture Show 4 and the Video Studio 10. have not started with the Video Studio but I am working on my first Slideshow. So far all is going well. I am hear just to learn more. Thank you all for posting. Irene

Hi Lynn
I am dissapointed with the audio fade on PS3 I cant tell when it is on or off. I always start and finish a slide show with a black slide. The first black one has no audio as a lead in to the slideshow. I reduce the audio to 60% on my last actual slide and reduce it to 40% on the black slide at the end. This give a gentle fade although not as good as editing the audio on its own but quicker to do.
I am generally very pleased with Uleads products and also only come to the forum when I have a problem.
