Moving DVD MovieFactory project files between PCs

Post by WDA1.com »

I have Ulead DVD MovieFactory 5 installed on my laptop, as well as my desktop machine. The DVD burner is in my desktop machine.
I have created a Slideshow project on the laptop machine, using a couple hundred images. All the images are in one folder on the C: drive, on BOTH machines, and both folders on both machines are exactly the same.

I have created a slideshow project on the laptop, adding some additional pictures from the image folder on the C: drive, while also adding some text and props from Ulead DVD MovieFactory 5. Then I transfered the saved project file from my laptop to the desktop.

When I tried opening the project file now on my desktop machine, NONE of the additional pictures, text or props that I'd added to the project while on the laptop were on the copy of the project now on the desktop.

:?: What am I doing wrong? ...or does DVD MovieFactory 5 not have the ability to create a project on one machine and move it to another? I'm really stuck and would love any suggestions anyone may have.

Thanks in advance!

Not at my video editing machine right now so unable to perform a test to check this out with MovieFactory.

Have you placed the project file and also the image files in the same directory structure on the two machines?

Some computer programs use 'absolute' addressing where you give a specific location e.g.
c:\program files\this directory\this program.exe

Some computer programs use 'relevant' addressing where you define the target location from the place you are now standing.
e.g. go back two directories and then peel off along this path
..\..\new path\new program.exe

adding some additional pictures
So you already tried the older version of the project file on the desktop, and now you replaced the file with the newer one.

MF is probably using its cached copies of images and views because it doesn't know you changed the project on the notebook.
(It would be smart for it to check the modification time, but maybe the developer was lazy).

C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Ulead DVD MovieFactory\5.0\Ulead.dat\BwsCache

C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Ulead DVD MovieFactory\5.0\Cache

Try deleting the files in both folders, and then start MF.
