DV Capture
When I capture DV video onto VS10, the picture quality is much less on the screen than it is on my camcorder. (It is a bit grainy). Is it supposed to be like this? If not, what should I do to correct it, or what could be wrong?

Hi Gary
When capturing Dv-Avi the quality should be as good as the original footage.
Capturing Dv is similar to copy and paste, there are no changes no recoding.
You connect your camera via Firewire and select DV as the capture format.
There are no capture property settings to change other than the Dv-Type (select Type 1)
The captured file will be about 13Gb per hour.
For more info read the Sticky from the top of this forum.
Read the Info A Guide to Dv Avi Capture from the link below.
Hope this Helps

This is becaust video and computers use two different color systems or 'gamuts'. Some monitors have a video preset that helps a bit, but most don't.Ken Berry wrote:If by 'on the screen' you mean the VS10 preview window, it is not very high quality. It is only meant to be a preview, and tends to be a bit dark and grainy. But once you burn it to disc, the quality will be much better.
