Which updates to install after reinstall?

Post by tavideos »

I've decided to reinstall xp and msp8.1. because of consistant crashes.Which updates, extra content do I need to install and in what order? I have all the updates in one folder and I'm not sure which one's need to be installed and which one's might not need to be.

Is there anything else I need to know or do while doing the reinstallations?

Thanks,
Tim

you need to install
1. The MediaStudio program
2. The Extra content
3. Service pack 1
  • Service Pack 1 contains all previous Update Packs and the Hot Fix; there is no need to install any additional updates before or after installing Service Pack 1. If you have already installed any previous Update Packs, it is not necessary (or possible) to uninstall them.
  • All languages (English, German and Japanese) and all editions except Trial should apply this service pack
  • This service pack cannot be uninstalled.

What Steve said...plus one thing

Steve has the reinstall in roughly the same order I do. I just have an added component or two and want to pass along what worked for me.

Reinstalled MSP8 and the extras. Then I installed cg infinity. Then 3d studio, then the sp1 update and then the Smart Compositor Template pack.

Had to do it twice within a week. First time was for a hard drive crash.. then when I said "oh what the heck" and built my new machine to replace the one I had just reinstalled the new hard drive in.

I just want to add. If you are putting other software back in at the same time. Put all the other stuff in first. Then start the reinstall Steve outlined as the last stuff you put in. That assures you that some other software isn't writing over a driver or reconfiguring something that MSP8 won't play nice with.

Just my humble offering.

reinstall ... service pack 1

I guess this is all clear to some, but there are a few of us idiots out here...

I went to winserver 2003 and had to reinstall ... i come up with version 8...0028.

The service pack says it goes from ...0030, so how the heck do i get from ...0028 to ...0030????

I cannot find a clear path after hours of searching. This is the prime area of Ulead which really tries my patience. For pete's sake, this path should be laid out clearly for us.

I am guessing that the "extras" will take me there? what the heck are the extras? what if i do not want them?

for what it is worth, i agree with another poster somewhere that MS 7 transition handling was much nicer ... why do some prefer the need to overlap and not being able to work with the transition as a totally independent object?

many thanks billb
