VS10 Setting default text font

Post by englepj »

I am evaluating VS10. MF5 didn't have enough choices for me.

I am creating a slide show, adding text, music, etc and creating a DVD to show on the TV.

Is there an INI file that contains the default FONT? Curently, each time I go to add text to a picture, by double clicking on the picture, the default FONT is Tahoma. I have to use the drop-down and select the font I want each time. The size and line spacing stay the same but the font goes back to Tahoma each time I go to create a next text line.

There MUST be a way.

Thanks,

Pat

Hi Pat, and welcome to the forums..:)

I tried reproducing the problem, however I'm not able to. I changed the font, typed a title, and then on subsequent images typed titles and the Font did not change. It stayed the same as the first one I selected. I even tried by placing multiple titles over the same image, still no change. I also changed the font then went to another image and the font remained as the last I had choosen.

Just for information, when I open VS10 + the default font is Arial.

I looked through the *.ini file that VS uses when launching and there is no entry indicating what title font is used. It must be contained in a dat file or dll. I don't think it would be wise to tamper with those...

Thanks for testing that, Ron.

Normally every Windows application that uses the Windows Fonts (Word, Excel, etc) will start with Arial as the default.

I've tried your test and I've decided that the problem appears to be with the font I'm trying to use each time for my text, which is BATAVIA. Everything seems to work as your test did if I select any other font. When I select BATAVIA and start to type in the text box the font changes to Tahoma with the first letter typed.

My solution seems to be to either stop using the Batavia font or live with the issue.
